Most homeowners are surprised that remediation is faster than they feared. Here's what a typical Connecticut job looks like.
Small area (bathroom, closet): 1 day
Containment, removal of affected drywall or grout, treatment, air scrubbing. Done by evening.
Basement or crawl space: 2–4 days
Day 1 containment and demo of wet materials. Day 2 HEPA vacuuming and antimicrobial treatment. Days 3–4 drying and dehumidification until moisture readings normalize. See Basement & Crawl Space Mold Removal.
Attic: 1–2 days
Sheathing is cleaned and treated; insulation may be replaced; ventilation corrected. See Attic & Bathroom Mold Remediation.
Whole house after flooding or sewage: 5–10 days
Extraction and drying first, then remediation, then clearance testing. Rebuild follows separately.
What can slow things down
- Structural drying with high moisture content
- Waiting on lab results for clearance testing
- Insurance adjuster scheduling
